The Chargers signed first-round draft pick Joe Alt on Monday, leaving only second-round selection Ladd McConkey unsigned going into the team’s three-day, mandatory minicamp that begins Tuesday. Alt, an offensive lineman, has attended each spring practice so far.

Alt was the fifth overall pick in the NFL draft in April, after a stellar career at Notre Dame that included unanimous All-American honors following the 2023 season. He also was a finalist this past season, his junior year, for the Lombardi Award, given annually to the nation’s top college lineman.

Alt’s father, John, was a two-time Pro Bowl selection during a 13-year NFL career as an offensive lineman with the Kansas City Chiefs. Alt played other sports and other football positions at his father’s urging. Older brother, Mark, was a defenseman with the NHL’s Kings, Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers.

McConkey, a wide receiver from Georgia, was the Chargers’ second-round pick.
