A male teen driving a stolen vehicle crashed into three other cars while fleeing from police in Garden Grove, killing one person and critically injuring another Saturday evening, police said.

Around 9:46 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a reported stolen white 2019 Subaru Legacy in the area of Taft Street and Garden Grove Boulevard when the driver fled southbound and collided with three other cars on Taft Street and Trask Avenue, police said Sunday. The driver and passenger of the stolen Subaru, both male teens, fled the area on foot, the Garden Grove Police Department said in a statement.

The driver was arrested a short distance from the collision and treated for minor injuries before he was booked into Juvenile Hall. The passenger fled the area and has not been located.

Two victims inside a gray 2013 Honda Insight were hospitalized in critical condition, including the driver and a passenger,  34-year-old Kevin Luu from Garden Grove, who later died from his injuries, police said in the statement.

A white 2004 Toyota Camry and silver 2008 Toyota Rav4 were also involved in the collision.

Alcohol and drugs may have contributed to the crash, though the official results from the Orange County Crime Lab were pending.
