UPDATED:

More than 70 women came together on Monday, May 6, for a Nurture to Remember event that provided a day of pampering and healing.

The morning was organized by Forever Footprints, an Orange-based group that supports women who have suffered pregnancy or infant loss.

Women could have their hair and nails done, practice yoga and breathe work for relaxation and do art therapy to honor their child.

They were also encouraged to make contacts with other moms to help them on their healing journey.

“A lot of us don’t get birthday parties, we don’t get graduations,” said Forever Footprints founder Kristyn Von Rotz.

“Mother’s Day is coming up and a lot of the women here don’t have their babies on Mother’s Day. But we’re still moms,” she said. “We mother our babies, but just in a very different way.”

Rotz started the organization 20 years ago after losing her son in 2004.

She saw a lack of education in the medical community, she said, and in support for families who lost a child to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, pregnancy loss, or infant death.

Today, the organization provides support groups, helps educate the medical community and provides healing events.

The group’s annual Walk to Remember will be Oct. 5 to celebrate lives of the children.
