UPDATED:

Major League Soccer announced that the 2020 All-Star Game, originally scheduled for July 29 at Banc of California Stadium, has been canceled.

The game was scheduled to have the MLS All-Stars taking on a team of Liga MX All-Stars.

Tickets had yet to go on sale, but any tickets purchased at the stadium’s box office will be refunded. Fans are urged to visit www.bancofcaliforniastadium.com for more information.

The league said the plans for 2021 call for the All-Star Game to return to Banc of California Stadium, with the same format. The leagues are expected to resume discussions regarding the 2021 All-Star Game.

Both sides came together in November at the Banc of California Stadium to announce the event, which would have benefited both sides of the developing relationship.

In other league news, the second edition of the League Cup tournament between MLS and Liga MX team has been canceled in a joint decision by both leagues. The tournament was scheduled to be played between the months of July and September. The plans are to continue the tournament in 2021.

Also, the third edition of the Campeones Cup, which features the MLS Cup champion against the winner of Liga MX’s Campeon de Campeones, has also been canceled. This year’s event was scheduled for Aug. 12 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
