UPDATED:

After a months-long saga, Jack Sears has finally found a new home.

The former USC quarterback, who announced his intention to transfer in August, has signed with Boise State, the program announced. Sears will be immediately eligible with two years remaining.

Sears arrived at USC after leading San Clemente High to the 2016 CIF State 1-A championship. He redshirted his first season with the Trojans, then made his collegiate debut the following year in a start against Arizona State, completing 20 of 28 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns.

Prior to the 2019 season, Sears was part of a four-man competition for USC’s starting quarterback job. When the depth chart was released prior to the season, Sears was the fourth-string quarterback and soon after announced his intention to transfer.

In December, Sears committed to San Diego State, but never enrolled in the program. Now he has a home in Boise, where he’ll compete with Broncos returning starter Hank Bachmeier for the first-string job in 2020.
