Turning The Art Of Great Cooking Into An American Lifestyle

Julia Child let people in on the Cuisinart secret and so did James Beard. They were among the first culinary experts to hail the food processor as a revolutionary kitchen appliance when it was introduced to America in 1973 by the late Cuisinart founder, Carl Sontheimer. They saw the food processor as a quick and easy way to make fine food and healthy dishes.

Our Mission is to help you “Savor the Good Life.” Under management from Conair Corporation since 1989, the legacy is alive and well, as today, Cuisinart is a universally recognized name. The prestigious Cuisinart brand is not limited to food processors. Plugged or unplugged, nobody covers the kitchen like Cuisinart. The company is a full-service culinary resource with a wide array of products, preferred by chefs and favored by consumers.

Features and Benefits

Browning Control Adjustment: Five settings to customize waffle maker from light to deep golden brown

Indicator Lights: Signals when waffle maker is ready to bake and signals when waffles are ready to eat

Weighted Lid: Lid will not rise as waffles bake

Rubber Feet: Prevents marking countertop and keeps unit steady

Brushed Stainless Steel Covers: Clean and sleek look for any countertop

Cord Storage: Cord wraps under bottom for easy storage

Cleaning and Maintenance

Once you have finished baking, remove plug from electrical outlet. Leave top lid open so grids begin to cool. Never take your waffle maker apart for cleaning. Simply brush crumbs from grooves, and absorb any excess cooking oil by wiping with a dry cloth or paper towel. You may clean the grids by wiping with a damp cloth to prevent staining and sticking from batter or oil buildup. Be certain grids have cooled completely before cleaning. If batter adheres to plates, simply pour a little cooking oil onto the baked batter and let stand approximately 5 minutes, thus allowing it to soften for easy removal. To clean exterior, wipe with a soft dry cloth. Never use an abrasive cleanser or harsh pad.

Storage

When waffle making is completed, simply store your maker with the cord wrapped securely around base. Plug prongs fit into the special grooves on the side of the waffle maker. For compact storage, stand waffle maker on opening end so Cuisinart logo is facing you. The waffle maker has been designed with a special latching feature so the lid stays closed during storage.

Tips on how to make the perfect waffles

Cuisinart recommends the heat setting #3 for golden brown waffles. If you prefer crisper, darker waffles, increase the browning control to setting #4 or 5. For evenly filled waffles, pour the batter onto the center of the lower grid and close the cover. We recommend using 1/2 cup batter per waffle for evenly filled waffles. Waffles are best when made to order, but baked waffles may be kept warm in a 200°F oven. Place in a baking pan or wrap in foil while in the oven. Waffles wrapped in foil may lose their crispiness. Baked waffles may be frozen. Allow to cool completely, then place in plastic food storage bag. Use waxed paper to keep waffles separated. Reheat in a toaster or toaster oven when ready to use.

Oh right, that's why I hate waffle irons!

Oh right, that's why I hate waffle irons!
I was gifted a waffle iron a good 10+ years ago; it looked a lot like the one I've bought again. Almost instantly I am reminded why I used the first waffle iron I had once and let it collect dust until I donated it when I moved last.I think it is most important to note that the waffle batter is important. Baking is science basically and this should be no different. I read some of the complaints here and I realize that what is missing is the recipe people used. The recipe could likely be the culprit behind lack luster waffles, right? So in short, my recipe includes egg whites, cornstarch, baking soda and baking powder alongside of vegetable oil and flour. There is some sugar, vanilla, buttermilk, and milk in there as well. I think the baking soda and cornstarch are pretty important to a waffle that crisps, has good air, and is light. Maybe I am wrong. The waffle iron is what people say that it is, a waffle iron. The price point can raise concerns that there are quality issues and I don't deny that I will have to see what happens down the line, but for starters, this waffle iron seemed solid enough to give me what I wanted and that is a waffle.I made my batter, heated the iron and poured exactly ½ cup of batter in the center of the iron. I closed the lid and the lid lifted. It should not have done that at all, right? Well it did. I set the iron on 3 as the directions suggested (as did other reviews) and waited for the green light. In all the excitement I watched the green light go on and I just kept taking pictures. I left the waffle on there a bit too long but you know, it is a throw away because it was the first I made out of the box (after wiping the iron down) and I wasn't about to eat that.I posted some pictures. The first one shows the waffle a bit darker than what I like and stuck to the top. That was tossed. I show pictures of the lid lifted, the batter (1/2 cup exactly) oozing out a bit, and of course the separation between the front and back of the lid.Attempt 2:This one I actually waited for the green light to go on and then I lifted the lid. I suggest using a hot glove because there was enough steam and heat that was a bit hot on the wrist. Attempt 2 resulted in a split waffle. It was that moment that I realized I hated waffle irons or that I recall hating them. What a hot mess, right?Attempt 3:Well this is going a bit better. I increased the time to "4"and waited. I used ½ cup of batter and lifted the lid slightly. It resisted so I took another 30 seconds or so and lifted the lid again. It split mostly but stuck to the top more. I tried it out just to see if my new batter recipe was delicious; I mean I am sure going through a lot just to find out the darn recipe was disgusting. It was delicious and I was pleased. I gave some to the dog and she was pretty happy. She doesn't judge when the waffle served to her is split.Attempt 4:Thinking about my timing and realizing that setting 3 is not enough time and nor is 4, I thought I could either increase it or just leave the waffle on there a bit longer after the green light is on. I opted to go with setting 4 and another 30-45 seconds on the clock after the green light went on. Eureka!! I had a waffle! What is the secret other than time? Well I called on Pam. I realize it is said that non-stick spray isn't necessary (and shouldn't be used on non-stick surfaces anyway) but Pam was the only saving grace I think. For the price of this thing I won't worry about messing up the surface, I guess. Also, I used just slightly less than ½ cup of batter. It made a difference. I don't need a perfectly round waffle, I'm not IHOP.This was suitable for eating.Attempt 5:I figured I needed another waffle or at least one to share with the dog so off I went. This time I used the same "just shy" of ½ cup of batter, setting 4 and 30-45 seconds more on the clock. This one was equally delicious and the dog was pretty stoked that I didn't give up. My tummy was happy I stuck with it as well.So here it is...You get what you pay for, blah blah blah, but if you think that your first waffle out of the gate is going to be a winner then you're wrong. Unless you've done this before, I assure you that the amount of batter you were so worried about wasting will be used on throw away waffles. For $30 this is a keeper. After using it another two mornings I found that the best thing to do is let it heat up for a good amount of time before the first waffle. Even if the red light turns green, I suggest waiting. Letting it get to a real nice temp is key and the last time I used it, I didn't have to use PAM at all. It could be that it is seasoned a bit but something this inexpensive doesn't seem like it will have the best non-stick coating on it in the first place. Unlike cast-iron for example. I'm still quite happy with this. I will add that I do not get the spillage that people seem to get in the images. I would probably stop using it if I had that much clean up. This is out of being lazy more so than anything else. I think it is important to adjust the batter portion to get it to a point where you don't get spillage. I also think the batter matters. I didn't use the basic batter recipe.Pros:PriceWorksMakes classic waffles instead of those thick Belgium ones.Easy to useQuick cleanupStores easilyCons:Plastic timer dial thing is well, plastic and cheap.

It seems like most waffle makers these days are for Belgian waffles with the big/deep pockets. Those are fine, but my family really like the waffles from Waffle House and those have much smaller pockets on them. (American style). This isn't quite the same level, but it's much closer and the results were great.

Cooking and cleaning were super easy. The smaller pockets means that it's easier to clean because it doesn't have those deep crevices to get into. Cooking is also faster with these and we got some good crisp on the outside that was perfect.

One thing this waffle doesn't have is anything beyond barebones features. I guess there is a slider for cooking/temperature, but I just leave it in the middle. But there is no buffer, handle, or protective system in place around the unit which means it's ridiculously easy to burn yourself or someone if you're not careful. This is a plus in that the unit is smaller and is easy to store, but usually that extra bulk provides some safety from the outside getting too hot. Hopefully I just get used to it, but the best way to treat it is like a piping hot pan without a handle. You're not moving this or picking it up without gloves/towel/mitts or until it's been off a while. This might not be an issue for most, but with other waffle makers I have been able to move it to the side while cooking other things or turn it towards me if I'm needing to tend to it while multitasking. Not so with this hot iron as there really isn't much to touch that isn't scorching.

Our old waffle maker-a Cuisinart too was on its last legs. We had that waffle maker for at least 20 years and we decided to replace it with another Cuisinart. We were not disappointed! Same style, only updated. This waffle maker is easy to use and easy to clean. I know we'll get a lot of use out of this one and it will last just as long. Price was great and delivery was fast. Waffles come out golden brown and cooked to perfection.

My first set of waffles tasted like they were dipped in axel grease. It's like there's a special seasoning that's used on the grill. The second batch, a few days later, was much better. That aside, the waffle maker heats up quickly and my waffles are done almost before I can get the last one taken care of. They are cooked evenly and the temperature control does a good job of regulating the cook. There is almost no cleanup required. Simply wiping the griddles off does the trick. Also, the finished waffles do not stick. They come off cleanly and in one piece. Now it's time to find some creative waffle recipes.

I now have two of these because they are so easy to use. No Pam spray is needed as the waffles come off easily. It is light, yet sturdy and has a light that turns red when it’s getting hot and green when it’s ready.
I make the batter and pour it in a bottle or jug. Then I pour the batter onto the waffle maker and make as many as needed. The batter goes back on the fridge until I need it again. This is excellent for teenagers. This is also a great idea for parties or church related activities.

Love waffles, it’s a good waffle maker, easy cleanup. The only thing I don’t like about it is how the top is so wobbly years ago I had one. It was the same way. I guess I need to get a different style of one.

This is my first waffle maker - except for the Dash Mini. After I got the Dash Mini, I wanted to be able to make more at one time but I wasn't ready to invest a lot of $. So since I have been a Cuisinart customer for many years, I decided to try this one. It is terrific. It does feel a bit flimsy but it works just fine. I have made regular waffles with the King Arthur gluten free flour and I made chaffles. Everything came out really good. It cooks fast. I'm glad I bought it.

This waffle maker replaces an old rotating model. So this one does NOT rotate. I am not sure that the rotation thing makes any difference in the shape or taste of the waffle. However this one does make thinner waffles. You decide if that is a good thing or not. While it does feel a bit flimsy it certainly works fine.

I like everything about this appliance: it is slightly smaller than my old Belgian waffle appliance. I bought it to make chaffles in and it works so well to make one chaffle with the full recipe. I like that it is the Classic size as Belgian waffle appliances require too much batter to crisp up the way I like them. I like the adjustable heat option for desired crispness; it is easy to clean up after use and it stands up nicely for narrow storage places; it is a reliable brand, and the price was great. I have used it a couple of times now and the results I get are consistent. Looking forward to cooking other food items in it. It was a great purchase.
