Four-star quarterback prospect Antwann Hill is committing to Memphis, he announced on social media Saturday. Hill was the top uncommitted quarterback remaining in the Class of 2025.

Hill chose Memphis over Florida.

In October 2023, Hill committed to Colorado after receiving offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Notre Dame, among many others. But in November 2023, Hill decommitted from Deion Sanders’ program, reopening the recruitment process.

Hill, hailing from Warner Robins, Ga., plays high school football at Houston County High School. Entering his senior season this fall, Hill recorded 2,732 yards, 31 touchdowns and five interceptions as a junior.

With Hill committing to Memphis, the top uncommitted quarterback in the 2025 class is Malik Washington, per 247Sports. Washington, a four-star recruit, is ranked 14th among 2025 QB prospects, per 247Sports.

Memphis opens its 2024 season against North Alabama on August 31.

What’s the significance of Hill committing to Memphis?

For Memphis, Hill is one of the program’s highest-rated commits in modern recruiting history, ranked No. 174 nationally by 247Sports. The Tigers have a lot of momentum, coming off a 10-3 season and signing the No. 1 AAC transfer class. They’re expected to be an AAC favorite in 2024 with a possible path to the College Football Playoff if they win the league (The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman has Memphis 12th in his CFP 12-team projection).

The school in April also announced a partnership with FedEx, which will invest $5 million annually in name, image and likeness deals for the next five years. That is one of the largest corporate NIL investments in the country, let alone the Group of 5.

The Memphis starting quarterback job is expected to be open in 2025 when Hill arrives. Senior Seth Henigan is entering his fourth year as the starting QB this fall, having thrown for 10,764 yards in his career thus far. He was second-team all-AAC last season. Hill has a lot of high school reps with 36 career starts at Houston County. — Chris Vannini, senior college football writer
