Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has hinted at a potential exit saying that he wants to “play in the biggest competitions at the best clubs”.

The 24-year-old has two years left on his current contract, while the club have an option to extend it by an extra year.

With striker Ivan Toney expected to leave the club this summer, it is unlikely that Brentford will allow Mbeumo to depart in the same window.

The Cameroon international told French news outlet L’Equipe: “I have spent five seasons at Brentford, at a club that has helped me grow and turn a corner.

“But yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions, at the best clubs. It’s still exciting to see some of the big teams interested in me. We’ll see.”

Mbuemo has established himself as one of Brentford’s most important players in recent seasons, having scored 50 goals and provided 42 assists in 200 games for the club.

He joined the west London club from French club Troyes in 2019 for £5.4million (€6.3m) and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

Despite his campaign being hampered by injury, he scored nine goals and six assists in 25 games last season.
