The Vancouver Canucks won their first game of the 2022-23 season, defeating the Seattle Kraken 5-4 on Thursday night.
Ilya Mikheyev led the Canucks in scoring with two goals. Conor Garland, Andrei Kuzmenko and Elias Pettersson also recorded goals in the Vancouver victory.
With the win, Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau recorded his 600th career victory. Boudreau is the 22nd coach in NHL history to reach 600 wins.
At the end of the game, Canucks forward J.T. Miller blocked a shot by Kraken left winger Andre Burakovsky. Miller had to be helped off the ice after the final buzzer. Through eight games played this season, Miller has four goals and two assists.

Prior to Thursday’s game, the Canucks acquired forward Jack Studnicka from the Boston Bruins in exchange for goaltender Michael DiPietro and defenseman Jonathan Myrenberg.
The Canucks improve to 1-5-2 with the win. They are back in action Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at 10 p.m. ET.
