What you can expect from your appointment

We aim to:

  • provide comprehensive, objective, accurate and up-to-date finance-related information and advice
  • treat you in a fair, professional and non-judgmental manner
  • provide a confidential space
  • inform you promptly when there are any developments regarding a case we are advising you on.

You can choose to have someone with you during your appointment. This can be an independent observer, family member or friend.

Your situation may require advice beyond our area of expertise. If so, we'll give you details of other organisations more qualified to assist you. These other organisations may be internal or external.

What we expect from you

We expect you to:

  • contact the service as soon as it becomes clear you need, or will need, our help
  • keep to any appointments you've arranged with the service
  • notify us if you are no longer able to attend or no longer need our help
  • arrive promptly for your appointment
  • act on any advice given
  • respond promptly to requests from our team about cases we're assisting you with
  • inform us immediately of any change in circumstances
  • act upon and follow all agreed action points by the time agreed.

It's especially important you give us a full and accurate account of your situation. The quality of our advice is dependent on the information you provide.

How to book your money advice appointment

We can help current and prospective students of Nottingham Trent University.

During the Summer break, we hold our appointments online via Microsoft Teams or by telephone. In-person appointments will return in the Autumn.

Appointments last 25 minutes and are completely confidential. You must book your appointment in advance. We usually release appointments one week in advance. If you can't find an appointment, it's likely that all released booking slots have been taken. New slots are released each weekday.

Book your Microsoft Teams appointment

Please only book one appointment. We're likely to cancel any multiple bookings without prior agreement.

Appointments are for queries of a more complex or detailed nature. Contact us for further guidance if:

  • you have a general funding enquiry, or
  • you're not sure whether you need an appointment.
