The Oppo Find X7 Ultra is a camera smartphone and a very good one at that. This is not me, even in DXO Mark’s Global Camera Rankings, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra takes the top spot among all the smartphones in the world.

The screen is noticeably brighter than its predecessor, I love the two-tone design, and the leather texture combined with the frosted glass finish around the camera island gives the phone a level of refinement that you just don't get elsewhere. And there's the camera island itself; the large housing is designed to grab attention, and the phone as a whole has a distinctive design and a comfortable in-hand feel. I have no problems when it comes to the hardware, and while a 1TB version would have been nice, it's not a huge omission. In a similar vein, the battery life has been reliable, and while the device doesn't last quite as long as its rivals, I still got over a day's worth of use easily.

So, overall, as I said at the beginning, I am super impressed with what the OPPO has done with this year’s Find X7 Ultra flagship. It brings all the goodies of what you get with the best-in-class S24 Ultra, at 50% less price! That’s quite remarkable! However, this phone is currently not launching globally, it’s China-exclusive but I think BBK Electronics, the parent company that owns both OPPO and OnePlus, should launch it as maybe the OnePlus 12 Pro. We have seen, that they do it with the Foldables right!? The OnePlus Open which was the best foldable of 2023 is in fact the rebranded OPPO Find N3. So, I think this could well be the OnePlus 12 Pro. Compared to the OnePlus 12, the 12 Pro will bring all the limitations such as proper IP68 ingress protection, a much superior camera experience, and a more premium design at a slightly more premium price, let’s say NPR 170,000. And at that price, it will have everything to make premium phones like the S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max sweat pretty badly!

Scores were excellent across all test areas but the Oppo especially stood out in terms of portrait capture, thanks to natural and accurate colors and high levels of detail in all shooting conditions. The latest Oppo flagship features an impressive list of hardware specifications, including high-resolution 50MP image sensor in all four camera modules. The main camera comes with a very large 1″ variant that is capable of collecting a lot of photons and therefore image information. In practice, this resulted in natural-looking images with high levels of detail and low noise across all test conditions.

The one major problem with it, however, is that we can't have it - not officially, and not with an entirely smooth software experience - Oppo has once again chosen to limit its availability to China, with a ColorOS build tailored for that. Which is unfortunate because it's quite an amazing cameraphone. A compelling alternative is the Vivo X100 Pro, which has been launched globally, and eliminates these software frustrations. It’s still not available in the UK, but it has begun to hit the shelves in selected European countries.

Grafische chip voor smartphones en tablets die is geïntegreerd in de Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Qualcomm claimt dat hij 25% sneller is dan de Adreno 7340 in de Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 en uit eerste benchmarks blijkt dat de GPU de Apple A17 Pro iGPU kan verslaan.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

SD 8 Gen 3: High-end SoC voor smartphones die eind 2022 werd geïntroduceerd met een snelle primaire kern gebaseerd op een ARM Cortex-X3-architectuur geklokt op maximaal 3,2 GHz. Twee andere prestatiegerichte kernen zijn gebaseerd op de A715 en ondersteunen ook alleen 64-bits toepassingen. De twee extra A710-kernen ondersteunen ook 32 bit-toepassingen, net als de energiebesparende Cortex-A510-kernen. Naast de processorkernen bevat de SoC een WiFi 7 modem, een Hexagon DSP (voor AI-versnelling) en een Spectra ISP. De geïntegreerde geheugencontroller ondersteunt snel LPDDR5x-geheugen tot 4.200 MHz. 5G is opgenomen in de chip met de Snapdragon X70 modem.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.
