Se vogliamo trovare un limite è quello del rapporto 16:9 tra i lati dello schermo, ora che molti produttori stanno scegliendo per i propri sistemi sottili destinati alla produttività personale rapporti di 16:10 oppure 3:2 che prediligono la risoluzione verticale e in questo modo permettono di migliorare la produttività personale. Il tutto ad un prezzo di listino di 1.399€ sul mercato nazionale, cifra che è però già oggetto di qualche ribasso di prezzo da parte di alcuni rivenditori.

Quindi, stringendo: questi Copilot Plus PC, questo Windows ARM e questo Snapdragon X valgono finalmente la pena? Forse per la prima volta possiamo dire: per qualcuno sì, ma con riserve. Allo stato attuale la "carota" principale è l'autonomia, il "bastone" l'esperienza software. Se siete certi che nel vostro flusso di lavoro quotidiano userete prevalentemente (che non vuol dire "esclusivamente") app native ARM, vi godrete un'autonomia semplicemente impareggiabile. Per esempio, possiamo immaginare che una macchina equipaggiata con Snapdragon X potrebbe spopolare in una redazione. Se invece i vostri principali software sono ancora x86/64, buone notizie: ASUS propone sostanzialmente lo stesso laptop anche con chip Intel e AMD di ultima generazione.

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED S5507 is an interesting device that is loaded with rich AI functionality. For example, the Live Captions function is useful for real-time translation with automatically generated speech captions. The Cocreator app is tons of fun. Basically, you can sketch something in Paint and it can be transformed into an (almost) real-world-looking image. You’ll also find preinstalled software such as Recall, Automatic Super Resolution, and more. Our laptop has the 12-core Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100 paired with 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM. The machine feels fast for everyday tasks such as Web browsing, watching videos, or editing MS documents. The CPU can maintain super solid 3.40 GHz even in “Whisper mode” which leads to very good comfort under full processor stress since the fans are quiet.

I’ve been waiting a long time for a laptop like the Asus Vivobook S 15 to come along. It’s as good as a M3 MacBook Air, with great performance and battery life. Although it may not be as sleek and attractive as Apple’s ultraportable, it delivers far better value for money, with an unbelievably good display, a comfortable keyboard and good speakers and a webcam as bonuses. With so much more native ARM software now available, it appears Windows laptops are at last able to operate on a level playing field with their Apple silicon counterparts. The only problem may be legacy hardware accessories such as printers, scanners and so on. If that isn’t an issue for you, and you’re not a big PC gamer, then this new generation of Windows laptops would appear to be a no-brainer.

It's hard for me to draw proper conclusions based on this early Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED unit, since the hardware and especially the software are still in their early days. There's potential here for a daily driver for multitasking and casual use, where the Snapdragon X Elite platform could offer snappy performance even on lower-power profiles, with quiet fans, cool temperatures and long battery life. But that potential isn't quite met today. And when it comes to serious work or gaming, it will take a very long while before this platform and the software become competitive against existing Intel/AMD options in the Windows space.

Early review of the ASUS Vivobook S15 2024, powered by Snapdragon X Elite - a fresh Apple M3 competitor, designed for fast mobile performance. I've played with the Vivobook S15 OLED for a couple of days and here's my first impressions. The ARM-based Snapdragon X Elite is certainly capable as those benchmarking tests show, although Steam games like Spiderman Remastered suffered from graphical glitches. Or simply refused to run. For everyday multi-tasking, the ASUS Vivobook S15 2024 absolutely smashed it, showing no signs of slow-down.

Ultimately, my early impressions of the X Elite are mostly positive. Battery life is a small improvement over x86 chips, though how much depends on what features you choose to run or disable. On the other hand, performance is pretty good and, so far in my testing, comparable to x86 chips with minimal issues. That said, users should expect a few kinks from Windows on ARM since it seems Microsoft hasn’t yet worked everything out. There’s still obviously lots of testing to do, but it looks like the X Elite will finally breathe some life into Windows on ARM and bring much-needed improvements to battery life to Windows laptops. It’s not quite the home run that was advertised, but it’s a definite improvement.

This is going to be a worthy competitor for the latest Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, a similar, albeit larger, format and running on similar Snapdragon X hardware. It’s coming later in the year, starting at 1299 GBP on the UK market, so it should be closely priced to the Surface. I’d reckon it could be an interesting option for creators and those of you looking for a lightweight travel companion. I’m not necessarily a fan of the tablet format as a daily driver, but the popularity of the Surface series over the years proves that some of you prefer this design over more traditional laptops or 2-in-1 hybrids. So there’s a market for this device.

Qualcomm SD X Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS GPU: Un adattatore grafico integrato di cui sono dotati diversi processori Snapdragon X Elite e X Plus. L'Adreno non supporta i monitor SUHD 4320p e, per quanto riguarda le prestazioni, non è molto più veloce della vecchia iGPU Intel Iris Xe da 96 UE.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
