A heat advisory is in effect for New Jersey from Monday through Wednesday night as feel-like temperatures are expected to reach 95 to 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory due to anticipated hot and humid conditions, with temperatures expected to climb to 94 degrees on Tuesday, feeling like 100 degrees or more.

There is a slight chance of hit-or-miss summer storms during the day.

Wednesday will start with early sunshine, followed by increasing cloud cover. Temperatures are projected to reach the 90s for the sixth consecutive day, with a possible chance of evening storms.

When will the heat wave end in NJ?

National Weather Service meteorologist Sarah Johnson said, as we get to Thursday the heat index value should drop slightly.

“It won’t be as dangerously hot as what we see now and till Wednesday,” she said. “Friday and Saturday, the air temperatures [is] in the 80s and heat index value in the mid 90s.”

Wednesday and Thursday are still projected for high temperatures right around 90 degrees. Friday might be the only bit of relief with the high in the low to mid-80s before more heat through next Tuesday.

It's Jersey's second heat wave of the summer following one in June.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities, and check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and those without air conditioning.
