The New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s plan to expand the Newark Bay Hudson County Extension will have a substantial negative environmental impact on residents of Newark and the Hudson County cities the roadwork will traverse.
The 8-mile Hudson County Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike starts with the Vincent R. Casciano Memorial Bridge from an industrial section of Newark over Newark Bay to Bayonne. The road then turns left and continues into Jersey City and through industrial and undeveloped areas of the city as well as local neighborhoods before reaching the Holland Tunnel to New York.
