Who should be on Elizabeth’s all-time Mount Rushmore of HS sports?

Since its current inception in 1978 as a full-city, co-ed high school, Elizabeth has generated dozens of talented athletes who have gone on to compete at the collegiate and professional levels. We understand that Battin High School and Thomas Jefferson High School had their own history, merging to become Elizabeth High School, but this project will focus on the coaches and student-athletes who represented the Elizabeth Minutemen colors.

For the 10th straight summer, NJ Advance Media will help readers pick a hypothetical Mount Rushmore for several New Jersey high schools. Elizabeth will be the second school to get our Rushmore treatment in 2024. We’ll come up with a list of nominees and ask readers to vote on their top four selections - and our reporters will also make selections.

The poll is scheduled to be released Tuesday, July 16, so we’re looking for your help in putting together the official list of nominees. Send an email to ppotter@njadvancemedia.com with your nominations. Please include their name, graduation year, sport/sports they competed in and any notable information to support your selections.

Then look out on July 16 to see if they made the list and start voting.
