Former RBC girls soccer coach found not guilty after being accused of shoving player

Former Red Bank Catholic girls soccer coach Frank Lawrence was acquitted of a harassment charge from last summer at a trial this week in municipal court in Little Silver.

Lawrence was arrested in July and issued a summons for allegedly pushing a player during a summer workout. Lawrence denied the charges through a statement released by his attorney, Mitchell J. Ansell, Esq., in August, saying that he “never pushed any of his players,” during the practice in question. That statement also said the accused coach will be “vindicated” in court.

On Wednesday, Municipal Prosecutor James Butler called four witnesses to testify at the trial, according to Ansell. After hearing the testimony, Municipal Court Judge James E. Berube Jr. found Lawrence not guilty of the petty disorderly persons offense, Ansell said.
