N.J. man charged with murder after fatal stabbing

A Bridgeton man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death early in the morning on July 4, Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Selvin Omar Garcia-Ramirez, 21, of W. Commerce St., is charged with murder and a weapons offense signed by Bridgeton Detective Sergio Ruiz, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Authorities have called the attack against Edwin Lopez-Parra, 26, an isolated incident. The victim knew Garcia-Ramirez, said Police Chief Michael Gaimari.

Gaimari did not disclose a suspected motive for the stabbing. Garcia-Ramirez is being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bail, police said.

Bridgeton officers were called to respond to an incident at the 200 block of Atlantic Street outside Lopez-Parra’s residence at approximately 3:15 a.m. Emergency responders found the victim bleeding and unconscious.

Lopez-Parra died while en route to Inspira Medical Center Vineland, according to police.
