Jersey Shore lifeguards rescue boaters, dog from boat stuck on inlet sandbar

Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguards rescued two people and their dog Monday afternoon from a pontoon boat that got stuck on a sandbar in an inlet during heavy fog and began taking on water.

The lifeguards used personal watercraft from the beach patrol’s stations on 59th and 34th streets to reach the grounded vessel in Corson’s Inlet State Park, officials said.

Lifeguards and local firefighters also arrived at the scene by land. The boaters declined medical attention, officials said Tuesday.
