Wrong-way crash on Garden State Parkway leaves 2 dead, 1 hurt

Two drivers were killed and one passenger injured in a wrong-way crash on the Garden State Parkway in Bergen County early Friday, authorities said.

Diana J. Cruz was driving north in the southbound lanes when she collided with an SUV traveling south just before 2:30 a.m. near exit 163 in Paramus, State Police said.

Cruz, 38, of Newark, and the driver of the SUV, Sunday T. Ogundare, a 55-year-old Newark man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ogundare’s passenger, a 20-year-old Pequannock woman, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

State Police didn’t immediately say where Cruz entered the Parkway and began driving against traffic.

The crash remains under investigation.
