Experienced Employee: I have worked at Shands for 2 years and can honestly say it has been the best job I've had. My coworkers have always been sweet and understanding and we all treat each other as equal parts of the team. Management has always been understanding as well, and more than willing to work with you when something needs to be addressed. I've never had to worry about being unable to resolve scheduling conflicts, and they've always worked with me in terms of reaching the hours I need and working around my school schedule. The only thing I'd like to see change is that I'd like to see an increase to the staffing abilities. There are occasions where there simply aren't enough staff to cover the needs, but those occasions are unavoidable with the nationwide shortage of healthcare staff. That being said, these moments are uncommon and they always work to improve these and get coverage where they can. Orlando Health really struck my attention after the Pulse Night Club shooting as they quickly took in extra safety precautions for the employees and patients. They added more security features and implemented new and improved action plans to better treat their patients, especially foreign patients (as we know Orlando is one of the most tourist attractions). Senior Employee: MGH is part of a vast healthcare system known as Mass General Brigham. Working at MGH can be very beneficial to anyone trying to go into the healthcare industry. It is also well known for being a top research hospital, and can give you good research contacts. The benefits plan they have is very comprehensive, and I often had to pay little to no money for treatments for my illnesses/injuries. I work in home health care and providing nursing care to adults with special needs and ventilator/trach dependent. Working in the home of a patient allows people to remain in home versus a hospital or long term care. Providing in home care can be challenging at times because you are invited into families lives which comes with a variety of personalities. However, it has still been very rewarding because home health care involves caring for a patient without all the bureaucracy of a hospital. Patients have undivided attention by a one on one nurse meeting all of their personal, safety and medical needs. What I would love to see change is the hiring or more nurses to provide home health care. Unfortunately, because home health is paid by Medicare or other programs the hourly pay is not as lucrative as a hospital. Increasing pay to home health care nurses would attract more talent.... I get to use my own expertises in processing patient inquires. Since I started working at Walgreens I was set on becoming a Designated Hitter. A designated hitter is someone that helps in pharmacy as well as in the store. One of the downfalls to this is that customers assume I am either a shift lead or a store manager.
