Current Resident: I love that this is a great safe place to raise children. There are many conveniences and its a good blend of close big city living with a lot of access to public parks and clean lakes. The biking trails are phenomenal and it fits my families need to get outdoors. There are exceptional schools nearby and there are offerings for different types of educations, namely immersion programs, charter schools, and also the options of private schools. Also, we uniquely have an airport and it makes it fun to just plane watch! What I would like to see change is the variety of different restaurants and shops in the area. Current Resident: Mendota Heights is a great city that is loved by many because the community is great, and there are many public parks with safe measures taken by the city. I have never had a safety problem and hear about little to no crime in the neighborhood. Mendota Heights also benefits from its proximity to the Twin Cities. Residents can easily access the cultural amenities, job opportunities, and entertainment options available in the metropolitan area. One of the drawbacks is the cost of living, which can be relatively high compared to other parts of the state. One more small concern I have about Mendota Heights is the construction on the streets. I often have to take different routes to school when a long street named Dodd road is under construction. Current Resident: I moved to Minnetonka from Minneapolis when I was about 7. It has very safe neighborhood and some neighborhood families are even in the crime watch organizations. There are some opportunities to connect with your neighbors through neighborhood-organized block parties. It is quite a walk to go to different restaurants, cafes, and other places from my house. My school, Minnetonka High School, is an amazing school that offers a lot of programs, including trades, engineering, IB, AP, Online classes, mentorship, art etc. I really like it. However, there is fierce academic competition in Minnetonka elementary schools and middle schools, with many students getting accepted into a variety of gifted programs. However, there are special help programs and even a program for creative and innovative children that I was in. Walking to places can take a while as a suburb, and there are only a few cafes near my school. There is not much nightlife and city-fun, but many local events and nature/beaches.... Read 134 reviews

Current Resident: I have had an amazing experience and have created such great bonds with lifelong friends, families, teachers, and youth. Our town is about a mile long. With that being said we have a huge sense of community here. As a kid up until I turned 18, I have loved going to all the events, being able to walk everywhere, and no matter where you are, you are bound to see someone you know. There is such a huge comfort in knowing there are so many people cheering you on and supporting you. When it came to sporting events, so many familiar faces were there to volunteer or cheer us on. For me personally, there was more room for me to grow and explore when I didn't have to worry about making friends or being in uncomfortable situations. Since nothing is perfect, there are definitely things I would like to see change in. For example, the school administration has been through 5 principles in the last decade. Current Resident: I have lived in Woodbury for 19 years and it has been an amazing place to live. It's definitely the best Suburb of the Twin Cities area. The schools are amazing, specifically Liberty Ridge Elementary, Lake Middle School, and East Ridge High School. The community is welcoming and kind. There is a very high standard of living and it's a more high class environment, especially in neighborhoods like Wedgewood, Dancing Waters, and Stonemill Farms (these neighborhoods are the best in my opinion but are very expensive). The city has 2 great golf courses, my favorite is Prestwick Golf Club, and many great places to eat like Hazelwood, Crave, and Yum Kitchen. I would definitely recommend living in Woodbury, however it's important to know that it is getting increasingly expensive to buy a home. Nowadays it feels like you can't get an updated home for under $700k. New construction here is extremely expensive too.
