Current Resident: Okemos is a very diverse community, and is a great place to raise children who learn to respect diversity at a young age. There is a high percentage of professionals. Consequently, there is a high priority placed on education, and our schools are some of the best. People (who don’t live here) will say our taxes or too high, where in reality they closely match the smaller communities that surround Okemos. The nicer the home the higher the taxes, just like every community. You will find everything you need in this community, from housing , to medical, to education, to entertainment, to shopping, to a good transit system. Current Resident: From the very first moment that I moved to Novi, I loved it. The neighborhood I live in called Highland Hills Estates, our neighbors were very welcoming as well as the development. When I went to their public schools as a kid, I noticed the different cultures and ethnicities right away which inspired me to go outside of the norm of my culture and embrace other ones. I also noticed the amount of parks that were available, from sports parks to playgrounds, which makes Novi a community appealing to parents for the next generation in wanting to raise their kids here. Whenever there is trouble, the Novi police are always super accommodating and helpful, never rude. When my neighbor had a hit and run incident in front of their house involving one of their cars, the police men and woman were professional and cut right to the point and facts the situation at hand. Current Resident: Birmingham is 5 square miles of old school charm, with modern amenities, a bustling downtown, tree-lined streets, and great schools. It has eclectic housing designs that span from the 1800s to very contemporary modern. Many of the older, more affordable, houses are being replaced by larger homes. Real-estate is pricy along with the property taxes that the housing prices drive. Downtown Birmingham is a destination and has abundant parking, a mix of retail and restaurants and is extremely walkable. Public parks are available throughout the city and are well maintained. The public schools are top notch and the area is surrounded by great private schools as well. The majority of residents are friendly and engaging. Current Resident: Berkley is a great community to raise your family in. The most friendly neighborhood and you are bond to find at least 3 families with kids on every block. On the block over from me there is a cat named Henry is so friendly and all the neighbors know him. He kind of pulls us all together. The downtown is so cute and a great place to go shopping for one of a kind things and every month they have some activity going on. Now since they high school is near by many places hire the teenagers from there so you might have to be a little more patient. I would highly recommend Berkley to anyone and everyone.... Current Resident: East Grand Rapids is quiet compared to downtown Grand Rapids. I currently attend a university near the East side and love to go into the heart of East Grand Rapids for walks. Reeds Lake Trial is a popular trial and would be highly recommended. East Grand Rapids is close to main chain stores and mom and pop shops, creating diversity. Niche User: Living in Midland has been amazing. I went to elementary through high school in Midland and the school system there is unbeatable, the level of learning is very high and it prepared me for college. Also living in Midland you have so much to do, our biggest tourist attraction is the fridge which is on the Tittabawase river. The bridge connects the skate park and playground with downtown midland which is full of local businesses including my brothers clothing shop.
