Whitney M. Young Magnet High School Reviews
Rating 4.17 out of 5 1,208 reviews
Attending Whitney Young High School has been a positive experience. One aspect is the quality of education provided. AP courses and honors classes are challenging students and preparing them well for college. Extracurricular activities are another highlight. Whitney Young's diverse range of clubs, sports teams, and arts programs allows students to explore their interests and gain new skills. The emphasis on extracurricular involvement helps maintain a strong sense of community. However, one flaw is the pressure and competition among students. The high academic standards and the drive to succeed can create a stressful environment. The emphasis on achieving good grades and securing college admissions could be overwhelming for some people. While the school offers support through counseling services, the competitiveness remains challenging.
Whitney Young is a diverse learning environment that prepared me for college both in the realms of academics and campus/school involvement. Administration was iffy but those who were passionate were extremely helpful and have made an everlasting impact. Teachers are unforgettable and the alumni connection is remarkable. Go dolphins!
My experience wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best either. The school is held to very high standards and as are the students, which leads to a very tense environment whenever students act in ways that are deemed "inappropriate". Most of the time, however, the school is very successful in assisting students in achieving their goals. In some cases, the school was unorganized when it came to events yet in majority cases, they were on time. Overall, the administration was somewhat friendly, the students are interesting and the school is an experience.
