At Templeton Academy DC, our mission is to revolutionize student agency by our students having a voice and choice in their learning and educational journey. We encourage our students “to be in the room where it happens” — to position themselves to take an active role in the issues and ideas about which they are passionate. We do this by using the city as our classroom for a hands-on, experiential learning experience, through the adoption of a rigorous Gold Standard Project-Based Learning curriculum, and by centering our school around a Core Advisory Program that supports students in developing traits and gaining core skills for success such as self-regulation, compassion, agency, and purpose. Our vision is creating a world full of purpose-driven lifelong learners prepared to thrive in college, career and life.

From the time I've spent at Templeton Academy, I've experienced academic growth, personal growth, and a very supportive community. The school's small environment is good for anyone who feels or has felt overwhelmed in a larger educational setting, and the location encourages independence and using the surrounding city as an extension of the campuses. Creativity is something that is encouraged and allowed to flourish, as well as a sense of discipline when it's needed. Would recommend for your kids.

Attending this school It can be some what overwhelming.. with exhibition night, students yelling, kids on their phone during class and off task and this can impact how motivated the teacher is to teach. This can impact the students ready to learn and want a challenge but they have to suffer because of kids who do under the bare minimum. I’ve been at this school since 9th grade and it seems like they are just going with the flow at this school as the years go on.. This school is lacking a lot of things. It’s advertised on the website and instagram but when reality hits and you walk into that school it’s a huge turn.. The schools academics aren’t terrible but it could be more challenging. overall I would not recommend this school.

Templeton Academy is a great PBL school, and it does an excellent job of preparing students for the world. The school's foundation is solid and supportive; it's also very open and relies on students' trustworthiness. It mostly succeeds in engaging and challenging students academically. The teaching methods are hands-on and encourage social and academic participation. The teachers are great and always helpful; they learn about each student and build connections. Although the school has its advantages, it also has some disadvantages. Staffing is not always consistent, and the location is in a busy downtown DC area, so safety when entering and exiting the building is not always guaranteed. The school is still in its early stages and is still working out its issues. Overall, Templeton Academy is a well-built school that encourages learning and strives to do its best for its students by providing them with the best education and experience to face the world and easily adapt to college.
