Alum: I transferred into Shipley junior year, and while I was hesitant at first, it ended up being the greatest decision I ever made. I was nervous on my first day; however, as I walked through the doors, I was immediately greeted by the friendly faces of both teachers and students. The community is so welcoming, and I felt immediately at home. It's an easy community to make friends in, and by lunch I already had a friend group to sit with that lasted the duration of my time at the school. Senior: One of my favorite things about attending George school for the past three years as a boarding student was the beautiful campus. George School's 240 acre campus offers much space for students to enjoy the outdoors with activities such as picnics in the spring an sledding in the winter. All of the wonderful dorm staff made living in the dorm a great experience and with the renovations that are happening over the next few summers, I can only imagine that the living in the dorms will be that much better. George School offers so much academically and I feel that there were plenty of class that challenge me as a students from IB to AP classes. I personally was not a huge fan on the 7-term, 5-week schedule which was been in practice since the 2022-2023 school year due to the long periods of time that can pass by between classes but I know that there is much scientific research that has gone into making that decision.... The teachers so far are very warm and helpful, and they have provided resources for summer enrichment. I aqquainted a fellow prospective student in my city, and we have become quite good friends. However, since I am already pretty familiar with some of the students there at Westtown, I heard some bad things regarding student friendships and relationships, but overall I think its relatively a lot less toxic than some of the other schools I researched about when I was applying. Senior: I think the best part of Conestoga SHS is that you have a lot of options in the classes you want to take and the clubs you want to join. What I don't like about Conestoga would be that grades are a huge thing and many people judge the grades you get and they love boasting and talking about it. I also don't like how certain student gets an advantage over other students. For example, I never knew that if you specifically went to the teacher to consult your test grade, you may have a choice to retake it or boost your grade. The teachers don't specifically say it so I never knew that this opportunity existed and I never actively seek for the teacher to change my test grade because I feel like it's unmoral or the wrong thing to do. The best part about Haverford is the supportive atmosphere and how the students love being there. The academic standards are much higher compared to other schools, but the teachers really care and our boys have grown so much. There are many school activities, and it's nice for parents to be able to be involved.
