Parent: Can we talk about ISM's amazing campus? First, it is always clean, and well-maintained. And it's sprawling! It's also beautiful. Everytime I drive onto campus to drop off my child I *almost wish I could stay. I would have loved to have had access to the space and facililites like this when I was in school. My child has access to modern classrooms, science labs, and sports facilities. My personal favorites are the physics lab, media center and art studio. We feel the school provides a safe and comfortable environment for learning and growth. My oldest is now a rising 9th grader and will be well prepared for high school and beyond. When we were at MPS, I was concerned that my children would be lost in the large class sizes. Now, at Blake, we have the benefit of smaller class sizes but also a learned (and encouraged) skill set to recognize when one needs help and feel 100% supported to ask for that help. Senior: I've had a relatively good experience at Breck, but the school has multiple shortcomings. The food is bad and if the lunchroom wasn't equipped with a panini press I wouldn't eat lunch multiple days of the week. While most teachers are lovely and supportive, some teachers fail to teach their subjects to the point where students can understand them, and assign homework as if we don't have 6 other classes to also do work for. Admin has made it a habit of not telling students what is happening at our school, the students are always last to know if something bad happens, which is frustrating. Overall, the community is decent but lacking in diversity, and the majority of funding goes to sports leaving the arts department lacking in budget. The tuition is also expensive.... Read 111 reviews

Junior: My high school experience so far has been really good. Ever though Wayzata high school in such a big school with almost 4,000 students, every students seems to be also to be seen and helped to reach their full potential. I am able to choose classes that directly correlate to my interest such as interior design and architectural design classes. There are many AP classes available and classes that challenge me to be the best I can be. Something I would change though is the pressure that is put on you at this school. Since Wayzata is very high on academics and sports alike in the state of Minnesota and the country, it is a highly competitive school that leaves students, including me, under great pressure to get straight A’s in incredibly challenging classes. Even if you feel like you are smart, there always seems to be someone ‘better’ than you. Freshman: the best parts of my experience so far as a freshman is that there are very nice and kind teachers, and nice friends. the food is not too bad i would say. they have two lunch rooms; south and east and on the east side there are two menus; one is just chicken nuggets, hamburger, corn dog, etc. and the other changes every day to nachos and pizzas and bosco cheese sticks and there is also a place to buy coffee, cookies, ice cream too but i recommend you to go to the south to get the ice creams. the south has those same things but there is another place too to get things like madarin chicken, tocos, etc. im going to be taking fashion design and mechanising, and i will be taking textile designing for next year because i want to major in fashion so there are good classes to get you started for your career too!... Parent: Absolutely amazing school, teachers and community! 3 of our girls currently go to Northwoods Elementary and they all just love it! The teachers are engaging and provide additional resources (reading helpers, speech therapy, extracurricular sporting activity), if needed. The teachers are all super nice (with a few exceptions but that's just like every school), the administration knows who you are since it's such a small school, the teachers push you to do your best, the curriculum is accelerated. I've been at Math & Science Academy since 6th grade and I've liked every year. Obviously it's school so it's not my favorite place in the world, but it's fun getting to see all of my friends pretty much every day. It's definitely not a sporty school, but you probably wouldn't go there for sports anyway since there are 2 other big public high schools in the same city, both of which have tons of sports.... Senior: The best experiences I had at Wayzata East Middle School involved teachers and flexibility. The assignments we were given related back to the real world often and were things middle school students want to be involved with. Many of the teachers supported us throughout life and still love when we come to visit. The ETD and FCS classes were very hands on and kept students engaged which was one of the best parts of middle school. In 8th grade there’s also a big country project that many students looked forward to and it was a fun interactive thing to do. Most of the classes the teaches were relaxed yet still engaged, each teacher seemed to love the subject. The sports teams were fun and competitive and created a good environment for students.
