Junior: Overall, I feel like I have had a pretty good experience at Weston Public Schools, MA. I am a METCO student meaning that I don't live in the same district that I go to school. However, I have been going to this school district since I was in kindergarten and I feel like I know it pretty well. Throughout the years, I have really loved most of my teachers and friends from school. For the most part, they were genuine and truly cared about the wellbeing of the students. While every system is not perfect and can always find things to improve on, I strongly feel that the education that I have received and am still receiving at Weston Public Schools has had a positive impact on who I am as a person as well as my general knowledge.... Freshman: Dover Sherborn School district is one of the top notch school districts in the state. The high school equipped with nice classrooms, well kept hallways, and lovely Staff. The Middle school only 20 years old is amazingly modern with technology. The two Elementary schools that locate in the towns of Sherborn and Dover are very welcoming and enjoyable to learn in. The Sports and clubs are always very full of excitement (if you play Golf, Tennis, or Lacrosse, this is perfect for you as these sports have won states multiple times in the last 5 years). I feel very safe in my classroom all day and everyday whether I’m walking through the halls to the next class, or walking to the cafeteria. Senior: I’ve gone to Belmont schools since I was 5 years old. In terms of the highschool, for the most part, amazing academics, and the arts program is fantastic. However, many classes (especially English classes) are less about the subject and more about identity and politics. This was the case from middle school throughout high school, and unfortunately because of this prioritization on social justice issues, many key parts of learning are left out, such as essay writing and other English/language arts skills that will help in college.... Senior: I think the teachers and the course curriculum at Wayland has been the best of the schools in the area. I've found that the social aspect isn't the best, but I don't think it has to do with the town in particular and more just the luck of who is in which year of school. Overall, I think the teachers show that they really understand and care about the students and the course, and students are able to learn a lot and get ahead of many of their peers at other schools. Senior: I am a current senior in the Sharon district. As I indicated, Sharon has many opportunities for clubs and organizations, and encourages participation in them. The counseling department is very helpful in getting students ready for college, however I would say that they need to emphasize financial aid and scholarships more. Our administration is going through some major changes that I disagree with, such as the removal of our free period. Students take advantage of this time to make up tests, go to teachers for extra help, do work, or just take a break. I had many opportunities for leadership and ways to give back to my community, which definitely contributed to my resume. Sharon High is very competitive academically, and the culture surrounding grades is very negative, but to counter that, we have many school adjustment counselors, psychologists, and helpful adults in the community. Senior: Throughout my time at the Needham Public Schools, I have gained an authentic perspective of the world around me, and a sense of confidence in the next steps I will take in life post-high school. My experience within this school system included forming the utmost meaningful relationships, like that with my AP Chemistry teacher, who not only gifted me with a love for science; inspiring me to pursue science in college, but taught me how to be the best version of myself I can be both in and out of the classroom. The Needham Public School district has several strong assets, like its faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and stellar academics. However, one change I would like to see in the district is greater diversity and better inclusion of all students. For instance, I have always felt it challenging to integrate myself into the school's athletics. Sophomore: I've been going to Cambridge Public schools for basically my whole life (except for 9th grade, I moved for a year). I went to the Kennedy-Longfellow School, where I stayed my whole elementary. Whenever I pass by it I get very pleasant nostalgic memories. I especially loved kindergarten, where we had nap time. After Kennedy, I went to Putnam Avenue Upper School. It's a fairly new middle school and while it wasn't the best due to the pandemic and all, those were probably the most chaotic 3 years of my life. I don't miss it as much as Kennedy, but I met 3 other friends there - we're still friends now as I'm in high school. High school. I currently attend Cambridge Rindge and Latin, one of the two public high schools in Cambridge. I like it so far, it's my first year.
