Senior: I am a rising senior at CGA US, and I am thoroughly enjoying my experience studying here! The classes are difficult and you are not guaranteed immediate straight A's, but they definitely prepare you for college and higher level coursework. The academic and college advisors are always there to help with any problems, and this is something that I have taken advantage of every year of high school. There are also so many different clubs that students can join, and if there is one that doesn't fit their niche, the process to create your own club is very simple. Something I would like to see change is how strict the dress code is enforced in comparison to other issues. Parent: I am the parent of two children who attended Ransom Everglades for middle school and high school (one has graduated and the other is a sophomore). This is an amazing school. The academic offerings are outstanding: my children are way ahead of where I was academically at the same age. They can take courses that are equivalent to a good college, and it's OK to be a nerd. The school has great extracurricular activities available, including sports and academic teams. And the teachers are simply great; many of my kids teachers have PhDs (seriously). My kids are getting a better education than I did! My son is now at an Ivy League school, and he tells me that the work at Ransom was harder. No place is perfect, but Ransom is pretty great.... Senior: I came to this school with little hope, but over my years here, I have come to love it. I love my school a lot, but it does leave a lot to be desired. The arts here have the potential to be great, but they receive very little support from the school. Arts teachers are not allowed to assign students homework or give low scores because, by administration standards, "as long as they are showing up to class, they're doing enough." This leads to a lot of students treating the arts program as a joke since they know they can't fail. Additionally, disciplinary action at this school is very unbalanced. The same offenses often receive different punishments based on the student. There's also a huge number of kids here who engage in marijuana use and drinking. Most students are friendly and intelligent but have little drive. It is important to find the right people at this school and surround yourself with excellence. Parent: We have been at NSU since PK3 and moving now to the lower school for Kindergarten. We love the individualized curriculum. The teachers will work with your kid to keep them constantly motivated and if they are a little ahead of the peers, they get to experience a different track. The administration does a fantastic job. We also opted for this school as it is project based. We do not believe that schools that are too focused on tests create the best well rounded individuals, specially in todays time and looking at the skills that will be needed in the future. Our kid is always happy and engaged in all activities that the school offer. Do have in mind though that there are lots of extra curricular activities being offered but those require extra payment and that summer camp is not included. Budget appropriately. Senior: Lake Highland is a highly educated college preparatory school that ensures the graduating class is prepared to manage themselves and their future. In my experience, Lake Highland has always prepared me properly for the future, especially in my coursework. Through Lake Highland, I learned great time management skills and how to work with teachers and communicate thoroughly with them. Lake Highland thoroughly is a worthwhile school especially when it comes to helping students get to higher standards through Lake Highland/their faculty/teachers I was able to raise my GPA and be more prepared for my future within college with my SAT.
