Junior: My experience attending Forest Lake Public Schools was great. Since kindergarten, I've been going to school in the same district, and it's made me the person I am today. I perform well academically because of the instructors I had who put their students first. I've never had a teacher that hasn't been willing to answer my questions or put extra time into a student in need. Socially, I've grown into a respectful young woman because of the reinforcement and punishment that was implemented into my school days from day one. The staff at Forest Lake schools are warm and welcoming. Overall, I rated my experience a four out of five because after all it is a school district, and every school has their flaws. Some improvements could be made to make the students' learning even easier. One improvement I would suggest is smaller class sizes and more hands on learning. Sophomore: Minnetonka School District is one of the best school districts in the state of Minnesota. As a choir kid not only does it have some of or considered the best choir, orchestra, band, and theater programs. It’s home to some of the best athletics. From great hockey, to being able to run in cross country. It has multiple clubs ranging from all different types of interest. There is a community for everyone, and I have been able to find one at Minnetonka. Teachers are always so helpful willing to take time out of their day to help you. They care about us and strive to teach us. Our coaches and directors build very inclusive communities. And the arts programs recently were able to go on tour in Italy and Austria. Alum: I went there K-12, and I loved it. It's a great atmosphere; students, teachers, families. There are plenty of options for sports and activities, so there's bound to be something you would be interested in. I love how the schools are all on one street, and that the class sizes aren't huge like other public schools in the area. Alum: During my experience at Northfield High School I had best and worst parts of my experience, as most would. The best part of my experience was definitely all of the connections I made. I felt I bonded with peers and teachers a ton and I still have those connections even today. Another highlight would be my teammates. In high school sports are a big deal to student athletes, but nothing is better than having support from teammates and coaches. I played basketball, tennis, and golf so I got to experience this in many different ways and each one was so fun and rewarding. The worst part about my high school experience was that it took place during a time of covid. Having to do school remotly is exhausting and I know teachers worked extremely hard but it ws just not the same as in person. Also the cafeteria food. Parent: Avalon has an amazing and inclusive community and project based learning has been very engaging for our son. Project based learning allows them to take something they love and with the help of their advisor build a curriculum around it. Students still have some regular classes you would expect such as math, but a big part is the student projects which students pick and work with their advisor and teachers to flesh out and determine requirements and credits it meets. Classes are small and the advisors really have time to get to know students and their learning styles and interests to help guide them. Senior: I have truly enjoyed attending Springfield all these years. I started here in Kindergarten and and going to graduate this spring. The environment and teaches make this school an awesome and fun learning environment. This school pushes their Moto, “Learning For All” through making sure all students no matter what academic level, are thoroughly educated. In Elementary, our principal taught us to be “Respectful, Responsible, & Safe” which the students definitely thrive with. Our Teaches love to see the students succeed. This school also focuses on getting the students involved in extra curricular activities suck as sports, yearbook, NHS, etc. This school takes pride in their sports and works hard to make the players the best they can be.
