Those of us who did, and survived till graduation, had four memorable years, starting with the realization that (1) we weren't the smartest kid in the class anymore, and (2) this made for easy camaraderie. Junior: The best way I can describe Priory is that it is soft. For some people, this is a great thing. For students who struggle to keep up in high school, Priory is a nice protective bubble—they will definitely encounter less hardship here than at many other schools (although depending on your pedagogical philosophy, perhaps the hardship is more formational). Priory cangive these kids some room to breathe and catch up on skills that they may have fallen behind on. However, if you are a high-performing student academically or socially, I advise you to look elsewhere. While the support and leeway that Priory offers to stragglers is admirable, the opportunities and classes that it offers to high-achievers are lacking compared to other schools, especially given the sheer scale of the tuition. Additionally, huge grad requirements in the humanities seriously hurt STEM-focused students. Alum: I am a graduate of the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy class of 2022. I personally loved my time at FSHA. I believe it prepared me extremely well for college life, especially academically. The teachers are all so wise and knowledgeable and really take the time to get to know each of their students. The classroom environments are smaller than those in public schools, allowing the students to feel more comfortable sharing and participating in class. The all-girls environment also contributes to this. There wasn't this need to dress for boys or act to impress boys which allowed me to focus on my academics and my goals for my future. However, I will admit that socially the all-girls environment wasn't my favorite. Though we do have a brother school, the schools themself don't make enough effort to create joined events where students can interact. I would love to see an increase in co-ed events. Parent: We have two boys currently at Cistercian and are so thankful that this is their home. Every Cistercian student has the opportunity to be exactly who they are, without having to put up a false front for their peers. If you're a Lego-loving thespian who just happens to be a great athlete or a robotics wizard who plays the piano and is an all-conference soccer player, this is the place for you. It's not easy, by any stretch of the imagination. The coursework is rigorous and they expect a great deal from the students. Parent: Mayfield Senior has been a wonderful experience for our daughter. She has grown both mentally and academically and has definitely exceeded our expectations. The school has been able to give her that shine she’s always had. From the extra support her teachers have given her to the extra activities she’s been involved in. The balance she gets from academics, sports and the arts has worked very well for her. Her teachers have been able to communicate with her and that has been very helpful. The counselors have been a huge support as she enters her senior year and prepares to look into colleges. We are grateful for the community feeling from the school and the parents. Works Here: It's truly been a blessing to be a part of the Bosco family -- you feel it the moment you walk onto the campus. There is a sense of belonging that's available to every single person that walks through the doors. The school is absolutely bursting with activity from early in the morning to late into the evenings -- everything from academic programs, faith in action, athletics, clubs and extracurriculars. There is ALWAYS something fun going on at Bosco. It's powerful to witness the students at Bosco participate in whatever it is that they're passionate about, because in an environment like Bosco, everyone is able to not only seek that out but be pushed to excel in whatever it might be.
