Those of us who did, and survived till graduation, had four memorable years, starting with the realization that (1) we weren't the smartest kid in the class anymore, and (2) this made for easy camaraderie. Parent: We have had two boys go through the school starting in pre-K. We are stunned, absolutely stunned by the academic rigor of the school. It is very easy to (sort of) for a school to identify top level 8th graders and see them graduate at the top of the class. It is far harder to identify outstanding 5 year olds. What we have seen at Brunswick is that the top end of the school academically is vastly over represented by those who entered in the early years. To me, that says that the education is excellent. I am also completely stunned that anyone would suggest that the academics of the school is not top notch and that children would be better off going to a boarding school. Senior: I had an absolutely amazing 4 years at Xavier. From the amazing teachers with whom I go and talk after class to the friends I have made on the track team, there is so much joy, respect, and belonging here at Xavier. I wouldn't trade the world for my experiences I have had, and now as a senior it is quite sad to move on but I know I am well prepared with the various AP classes I have taken and extracurriculars I have been in (Philosophy Club & Medical Science Club among others) to rock it up at Georgetown University. Senior: I had an amazing experience during the last 4 years that I spent attending Saint Peter's Prep! The teachers were so friendly and were always able to help students when needed! I am very grateful to have been a member of both the Water Polo and Bowling teams and I would like to thank my coaches for allowing me to take the opportunity to play for these teams! The academic classes that this school offers allow students to think outside the box and develop their skills in the major subjects (Science, Mathematics, English, etc). Junior: Fordham Prep is a very good and well-rounded school with countless opportunities to succeed, get involved, and end up in a top university.. The school has an excellent wide range of academics , programs, clubs, organizations 18 different sports teams, multiple trips across the world yearly, and more. The school has an excellent idea of not only making us all highly academic but more importantly good people. There is no better rounded school in the city than here and it’s very very well worth the tuition. It way seem like a lot but most city private schools are much more. The school is pretty white and very rich overall with alright diversity however the school puts in a lot of effort to improve and give large financial aid to kids from poorer areas with bright kids. very hit or miss students , the kids are often cliquey and some are not the nicest. Junior: Now that I've completed Junior Year at Chaminade High School, I've learned to be grateful and proud of my school. Chaminade will give you the tools to exceed your expectations through its rigorous and wide selection of advanced classes, highly qualified educators, variety of excellent clubs, activities and sports, and supportive communities. If Catholic education is the path you want to take then I highly recommend this school. In my experience so far I've joined one of the many faith-based clubs, and will become a leading figure in at least four other clubs for my senior year. Nonetheless, I do have a few minor criticisms. A small portion of the administration is inconsiderate of the needs of students and the guidance department is very hit or miss with their aid. Alum: I graduated from CBA a few years ago. My cousins now attend CBA and I hear what goes on. First off, I am a proud CBA graduate. In recent years, what has diminished is not the school's fault but rather the quality of students who attend. The brotherhood was what I liked most about the school but it seems that it needs to be watched closely since the school's known drug culture, which is OUTSIDE of school, stems from activities around the brotherhood mentality. The general views on (hard) drug use is concerning. To the point where my cousins want transfer. The academics seem far less challenging than they used to be (likely part of why RBC is now ranked higher than CBA). In fact, the AP courses are where it's at. However, there is a lot of cheating that goes on. Again, the school addresses it but this is a culture thing where more students do it than not. None of this is the fault of CBA. Senior: I transferred here in my junior year because my previous school wasn’t helping with my mental health. I did not want to go into my previous school, as I would get there early and never felt comfortable. When I transferred to Cathedral Prep, everything changed! I made more friends than I had before, played varsity basketball, and did even better academically. This change benefited my mental health. Alum: My best experience was making friends in Drama Club or Theater and performing onstage shows before the covid-19 pandemic. My worst experience was trying out for the baseball team twice in two years and not having a chance in being on the team, after growing up playing sports. Also, as a Freshman football player, I was not getting enough play time at games. The coaches at the time were very picky. So, because of that bad experience… my interest for playing in sports fell off since. Some changes could be that the school should always be checking in with students, teachers, and everyone else to make sure everyone's having a good time and learning. They can keep things fresh by adding cool classes, offering more help when needed, and making sure there are plenty of fun activities outside of class.
