We loved our K-8th experience at this school. It's such a warm and accepting place where the faculty and administration truly enjoy their jobs, taking the time to get to know each child while building relationships with the parents. Our hearts sank when we learned the wonderful Head was retiring, but we were pleasantly surprised by how capable, positive, and effective the new Head has been. Our child attended during times of political turmoil and COVID restrictions, and the school rose to the challenge, thriving while keeping contentious political issues out of the classroom. We were impressed by how swiftly and promptly the administration acted when faced with difficult decisions regarding problematic staff. Now that we have a 9th grader in a demanding independent school, I can confidently say they were well prepared to excel.
My daughter attended LCDS for ten years and it was a nurturing, compassionate environment for her. She is challenged by ADHD and dyslexia and we were grateful to have learning resources available to her from the time of her diagnosis in 2nd grade through her middle school years. She was extremely prepared for high school and noted how many of her freshmen classmates weren't as far along as her in their knowledge of certain subjects. Each child at LCDS is known for their unique gifts they bring to the community and they are celebrated for those gifts. It is a special place.
I’ve had one child in the program from pre-k all the way through 8th grade and another current student who started in pre-school is now in 6th. Both have had exceptional experiences while at LCDS and their development has not only been academic, but their growth as people has been incredible. The small student to teacher ratio allows for a more personal experience. The teachers dedication is noticeable. Can’t say enough about what it’s meant to our family.
