When my daughter was 11 months old, my husband and I decided to move to Jericho, NY. This was a difficult choice for me to leave Manhattan, my job was there and many friends. We chose Jericho schools due to their reputation of being the top district on Long Island.
Now that my daughter is a senior in high school, academically this was the right choice. My daughter, graduating with a 3.9 GPA, was challenged in Jericho. The teachers and administration value academic success. The district handled educating the students during COVID extremely well and teachers went above and beyond to keep the students from falling behind.
Jericho Schools are culturally diverse. We are a Caucasian family embedded within this small, close knit community with families of other ethnic backgrounds. I’ve loved watching my children have friendships with kids and join them in celebrating holidays, eating foods and learning customs.
Overall, I am glad we made the decision to move here.

The environment is very supportive. Students are hard working and the teachers inspire students. I’ve had great experiences working with teachers, making friends, and involvement in clubs.
I believe Jericho High School is an excellent place in terms of education and college preparedness. Although it is lacking in terms of athletics and diversity, I believe the quality of education and the many resources it has to help the student makes up for this. Additionally, with its high-quality research program, Jericho High School is definitely one of the best places for those hoping to become a pre-med or stem-related major.
