Granada Hills Charter prepares students to take charge of their future. Led by a group of visionary leaders, teachers and parents, the school first opened in 1960 and converted to an independent charter school in 2003. With its fiscal, governance and instructional program independence, the GHC community has created a powerful learning environment in which all students are able to thrive.

Today, Granada Hills Charter serves students in grades TK-12 and is one of the largest independent charter schools in the country with more than 5,800 students walking the breezeways on two sites, the Zelzah main campus and the Devonshire campus, including its longstanding online learning program, iGranada.

The School manages a waiting list of 4,000+ hopeful students seeking the excellent and diverse curricular, extracurricular, and athletic opportunities of a vibrant comprehensive school.

Granada Hills Charter is an amazing high school that offers lots of resources that prepare me for the rest of my high school career and future. GHC offers both AP and IB Courses, so this gives me a wide variety of options to choose from. All of my teachers and counselors are all eager to support me whenever I am confused, which makes me always happy to learn. GHC also understands the importance of clubs and academic teams, which are all well funded. I am part of Model UN, and GHC offers enough money for us to attend various conferences including travel conferences to Berkley and New York. Overall, GHC is such an amazing school that offers so many resources without the cost of a private school tuition. The large student body means everyone can find like minded peers and tons of teachers to support us throughout our high school years!

Review Granada Hills Charter

In my opinion Granada Hills Charter High School is one of the best public schools in the San Fernando Valley that one can attend. All my experiences that I have yet to have at this school are for the most part positive. Most teachers are really really good at their job and give you many resources to help you further understand the materials we are being taught. Along with that, our school offers not only many different and diverse clubs but also many after school programs like sports and even tutors to help students in subjects they struggle with. I have only had positive experiences at my school as the teachers and facilities I have met are very kind and nice. I am on the varsity soccer team and I will admit that having to balance school with sports can be tricky sometimes however, in my experience my teachers have been very flexible and understanding to my schedule especially when I have to leave early for games. But Granada is very overpopulated which sometimes can be a struggle.

Granada Hills Charter is a great school with a wide array of opportunities for all kinds of students. The number of AP/IB classes, as well as the number of unique classes such as their "Heroes vs Villains" English class, that Granada Hills Charter offers to its students is considerably absurd, so there are a lot of different broad and niche fields that students can explore. The teachers here range from being alright to amazing at teaching material, but at least for me, most of the teachers give excessive homework everyday. With around 5,000 students at Granada Hills Charter, the school campus does get crowded but it's a minor inconvenience to go to school with so many other students. Plus, the number of students here allows for a lot of quality opportunities to be opened up for incoming students who are interested in doing extracurriculars; Granada Hills Charter offers numerous extracurricular activities that each have a high number of participating students.
