Wayzata High School in Minnesota holds a special place in my heart as an incredible institution that goes beyond traditional education. The teachers at Wayzata are not just educators; they are mentors who genuinely care about each student's success. The academic programs are top-notch, providing a challenging yet nurturing environment that encourages intellectual curiosity. What sets Wayzata apart is its commitment to holistic development. The plethora of extracurricular activities allows students to delve into their passions, be it sports, arts, or community service, fostering a well-rounded educational experience. The sense of community is palpable, creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where students can thrive. Wayzata High School stands as a beacon of excellence, shaping students into well-prepared, confident individuals ready to take on the challenges of the future.
I have had an overall good experience at WHS. I would say that the extracurricular options, elective class opportunities, and resources like the ARC (Academic Resource Center) are really beneficial for students. On the other hand, I would say that in some ways student support could improve. I have some friends who have not felt supported by their counselors (especially with conflicts like the Israel Palestine conflict), something that students should not have to worry about with their counselor. That being said, I would overall say that Wayzata is a good school that provides good opportunities for their students.
My experience at Wayzata has been so helpful to me. After my dad died, I has the opportunity to meet with multiple different counselors and grief therapists to help me get back into school. Without them, I don’t know where I would be today. I am so grateful to live in a school district that prioritizes the mental health of students. With this, I know I will have a good foundation for my college life.
