Rating 4.18 out of 5 66 reviews
Upper St. Clair School District is overall a very good district to attend. The teachers are always helpful and are clearly very knowledgeable about their fields. The school offers lots of activities, clubs, and sports and is very diverse and accepting of all people no matter race, gender, disabilities, background, etc.
The best parts of Upper Saint Clair is the environment and classes. The teachers have really good education to ensure the best for students. However, I feel that the school doesn’t prepare you for the college life. We were never given a great financial education and life at college talk. We were thrown to make our own decisions and pathways. The school also isn’t very diverse either. Most of the student body is white middle class students, so people of minorities are not being represented as well.
Overall my experience at Upper St. Clair, primarily revolving around academics, has been good. I am a junior this year and I have decided to pursue the IB diploma. This is one of the highlights of the district, they have a wide variety of classes, taught by experienced teachers who are happy to help. This has been my main experience at the district, though since joining the IB program I have encountered obstacles to my learning. The program's main problem is the small number of IB students. IB students may be put in AP level classes, making it harder to get IB level learning, and IB classes may be taught by teachers with no former IB experience. I was not made aware of these challenges before I entered the program. This is not the case for all IB classes, many are very well run. All this being said I do believe that the IB program is a valuable program and the coordinators do their best despite setbacks. Upper St. Clair leads students to great opportunities through their education.
