I went through the school system from kindergarten...Beale to Spring Street to the new High School, and although I received a great education and good athletic foundation, both experiences were marred by the extreme racism and lack of diversity felt in Shrewsbury. I am of Korean American decent, and there were very few other East Asians (let alone other minorities in general), in Shrewsbury at the time (early 2000s).
Not only was I bullied extensively from grade 5 through after graduation by members of my own student body, the administration did not take notice. For background, I was a tri-varsity athlete, who maintained high grades and a strong social status within the community, yet these things did nothing to deter the racism, isolation and immense amount of bullying suffered for years.
If you value racial and cultural diversity, then Shrewsbury is not the place to raise your children. I might opt for Acton, Lexington or Cambridge instead.

Great schools! Have to pay for school bus tho. Teachers are on top of things, great special ed too. Shrewsbury Senior High School is ranked 49th within Massachusetts.
My experience at SHS was overall great. I had access to a variety of accelerated courses, extracurricular activities, social events, and more. The teachers often developed personal relationships with their students making the classroom environment less intimidating and more fun. Sometimes issues would be brought up to administration and they would turn a blind eye. Admin would also often shut down event ideas presented by clubs promoting diversity out of fear of backlash, allowing their fear of perception to interfere with the enrichment of the school community and students' education.
