During my time at Rosemount high school I have had a mix of some amazing teachers and some that I didn't mesh well with. The elective/specialists teachers I have had have all been highly qualified and present to work with. They all work really hard to put on the extensive shows Rosemount puts on. On the other hand some of the academic teachers I've have I personally didn't mesh with. One of these teachers was my tenth grade inver prep teacher who would snap at us and made me cry on finals day cousing a server anxiety attack. I would say that my district is progressive but I would like some gender neutral bathrooms. The people who attended Rosemount don't make a deal about who uses what facilities but I think that it would help the school be more inclusive. When I was giving a tour for incoming freshman it was a concern of one of the students. Overall I would say Rosemount high school is a great school amd I'm glad I get to attend.
Overall, Rosemount High School is a good school with teachers that want their students to succeed. The performing arts are high caliber and encourage all types of students to join. The athletics are good as well, with multiple teams winning or going to state every year. Culture wise, the school is definitely focused on athletics, despite preaching their triple A philosophy (Arts, Academics, and Athletics), but in recent years the diversity in activities/students spotlighted has increased. Academically, the school is top tier and has many opportunities for students to challenge themselves and win academic awards. All in all, the biggest complaint I have about the school is the focus on athletics over other skills, however the school is actively working to remedy this.
ISD 196 has unique opportunities for students at the School of Environmental Studies specifically for juniors and seniors. The setting is quite similar to a college setting versus a high school setting. This is helpful for those preparing to attend post-secondary in the future. This school within 196 is very active and it helps students in the fact that it is more hands on and keeps people intrigued with learning. As a whole, the district genuinely cares and supports their students. ISD 196 does give support to students who need it, they make sure each of those supports is person centered.
There is little to complain about within 196. The schools within the district can be quite competitive which can be challenging for some students. It is hard to put that on the shoulders of the school though in my opinion. As for what I would like to see changed, that is also difficult. For students who struggle with mental health or disabilities, it is important to have flexibility to move about.
