I just finished my first year at one of the middle schools, JLS. The academics there have a very strong structure and nice ways to teach it. However, I come from a private school, so I have already learned a lot of the math they teach. The teachers are nice and always make class fun. I can't wait for my new school year to start!
The best parts of PAUSD are the vast variety of free resources students can excess. This includes college preparation, mental health, sports/physical equipment, and academic/course options. The worst parts include the heavy academic pressure to keep up with peers and go to a good university. Additionally, Don Austin, the superintendent, does not effectively address the concerns of students and staff. While he was superindentdant. for the majority of my time in PAUSD, various complaints were raised against him yet no changes were made. Instead, he was hired for another term. A major instance of note was when wildfires caused all bay area schools to close for a few days. He refused to close schools and many students (myself included) got sick. Additionally, in my senior year of high school, my counselors told me that Don Austin made many cuts yet the "saved" money did not show up in any other areas within the district.
Some of the teachers are really good how every so far I have always had a bad teacher once a year. Overall the school is nice, and town and country is a bonus.
