We chose Hewlett Woodmere because of its proximity to our family in Brooklyn and Queens as well as proximity to Manhattan. The town is also close to JFK. We are able to maintain a small town suburban feel while still maintaining access to the city. The schools in the district are amazing. They cannot be compared to the schools we attended in NYC. When my children started FECC, they declared it the best school ever! But with each new school they attended they said they had a new favorite. Communication in the community is open, so you can contact teachers, principals, and administrators, as well as board members easily (call, email, facebook) and they will respond. Meetings are open to the public so all community members have a voice to contribute to the community. Our children were able to thrive here and our commutes to work were 40 minutes or less.
My son is attending PreK at Franklin Early Childhood Center (FECC) we absolutely love the school. Even for his young age, the academics are challenging and provide great development. We relocated from out of state and decided to move to the area based on the Hewlett Woodmere school district and the school district has not disappointed us. FECC has such a wonderful caring community of teachers and staff. A+!
I just moved here and I love everything about it! From its proximity to Brooklyn and Manhattan to the vast curriculum it offers. Franklin Early Childhood Center is the cutest school, these kids get exposed to so much! The after school programs that are offered have been lifesavers!! My kindergartener is taking cheerleading, karate, and theater each week. So many clubs throughout all the school, the possibilities are endless. The high school offers so many AP courses and so many electives like architecture or mandarin. I smile when I drop my daughter off because it the suburban feel I’ve always dreamed of!
