GBN was an amazing experience since the teachers were incredibly supportive both emotionally and academically while the students themselves helped to foster strong relationships with one another. Students were always encouraged to push themselves and were held to the highest academic standard. While some students flourished under the pressure at the school, others felt suffocated or overlooked if they weren't in honors classes. In addition, I would've liked the student body to have been more diverse; perhaps this was why portions of the student body held and expressed racist, homophobic, and misogynistic views and values.
Glenbrook South has been an amazing experience for my daughter and our family. We have been a part of the school from the beginning of Covid, through a change in administration, and now coming out the other side to graduation. GBS administration and teachers worked so hard to give our students a safe and fun learning environment while also providing amazing education to our children - not an easy feat these past several years! Our closest teachers and most influential are in the art and architecture departments where they inspired her to seek a future career in these fields. Their influence on her has shaped her life and we cannot be thankful enough for the positive impact they have made.
My experience at Glenbrook High School District has been very good. My first year was online so I cannot say much about my Freshman year, however, the past few years have been some of the best ever. I have made many new friends, joined activities I never could imagine myself doing, and now at the end of the road, I feel incredibly prepared for college. Overall, I feel blessed to attend such an amazing school and am grateful for the many resources my school has provided. The only thing that I would like to see a change in, is for the teachers to be a little more hands on. I felt as though many of my teachers did not want to be as involved in the learning and preferred to just throw us into the new material. Besides that I really couldn't have asked for a better high school experience!
