Systems science and theory is a program with a multidisciplinary approach to the analysis and solution of complex problems, requiring a combined approach using data and models from the natural, social, technological, behavioral and life sciences, and other specialized fields.

How popular is systems science and theory as a major?

Each year, around 380 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 10 students obtain an associate degree in systems science and theory. In 2021, 410 students received a bachelor's degree and 11 students received an associate degree. This is 2% fewer systems science and theory majors than there were in 2020. Systems science and theory is a relatively uncommon major within interdisciplinary studies.
