How popular is sustainability studies as a major?
Each year, around 800 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 5 students obtain an associate degree in sustainability studies. In 2021, 1,215 students received a bachelor's degree and 14 students received an associate degree. This is 12% more sustainability studies majors than there were in 2020. Sustainability studies is a relatively popular major compared to other environmental science majors.

The major can be depressing but in the long run, just realize that you can make a difference.
It's hard and it can be depressing, but if you focus on the hope that sustainability offers it can be very rewarding and interesting.
Don't be dismayed by the Math requirements! So many resources can help with understanding complex concepts in math and hard science topics. Even when it gets tough, I take solace in knowing that, by default, I am working towards making a difference- and that every assignment is an opportunity to know more and is another step toward my big-picture goals. It is such a good time to be in STEM for anyone, and there are many networking, volunteer, service, intern, and hands-on projects (even study abroad) experiences available. The wealth of scientific information out there is rich and can be overwhelming when using interdisciplinary studies to work toward innovative, sustainable technology. Just try to stay organized, don't be afraid to ask questions, cite several sources for accuracy, and look for help when you need it. This will definitely help break down seemingly insurmountable concepts into digestible content. And enjoy the wonder of the world around you!
Have patience and passion when making assignments, in the end, it will be worth all that effort.
