What is a psychiatric and mental health services major?
This curriculum trains students, under the supervision of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other mental health care professionals, to provide direct patient care services, assist in developing and implementing treatment plans, administer medications, and perform related administrative functions. Course topics include mental health theory, applied psychopathology, patient communication and management, crisis intervention, psychotropic medication, mental health treatment procedures, substance abuse, record-keeping, clinical administrative skills, and applicable standards and regulations.

Share your experienceHave the right motives. You cannot do something like this for yourself. it must be for others to benefit. Personally, I want to make the world a better place and help lower crime rates which are very closely tied to mental illness. This is going to be my way of giving back.
I am not aplicable for giving advice since I am not currently majoring in this. This is just what I want to do one day.
Do your due diligence and really read about the different concepts discuss. Ask for help when you need it. Really participate in discussions with your classmates. Break down your papers into sections. Be compassionate!
This filed requires a lot of work and dedication, but at the end of the day the hard work truly does pay off. It is extremely rewarding seeing that you can make a difference in the world and for individual people; especially if you also do struggle with mental health. Keep pushing; you matter.
STUDY!!! There are very many concepts and it is extremely difficult to keep up with the rigorous expectations and assignments by studying you will excel!
