Paralegal students learn to perform research, drafting, investigatory, record-keeping and related administrative functions under the supervision of an attorney or court. This includes instruction in legal research, drafting legal documents, appraising, pleading, courthouse procedures, and legal specializations.

How popular is paralegal as a major?

Each year, around 1,270 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 5,780 students obtain an associate degree in paralegal. In 2021, 965 students received a bachelor's degree and 5,183 students received an associate degree. This is 3% more paralegal majors than there were in 2020. Paralegal is one of the most popular majors within legal studies.
