What is a network, database, and system administration major?

This program trains students to manage the computer operations and control the system configurations emanating from a specific site or network hub. It includes instruction in computer hardware and software and applications; local area (LAN) and wide area (WAN) networking; principles of information systems security; disk space and traffic load monitoring; data backup; resource allocation; and setup and takedown procedures.

Each year, around 2,010 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 3,080 students obtain an associate degree in network, database, and system administration. In 2021, 2,871 students received a bachelor's degree and 2,801 students received an associate degree. This is 9% more network, database, and system administration majors than there were in 2020. Network, database, and system administration is a relatively popular major compared to other information technology majors.
