Advice from marine science majors
Share your experienceBe prepared that your first year as a freshman is the weed-out classes. they are challenging and hard to stay on top of. if you are committed to trying your hardest it won't be easy but it'll be rewarding. I realized that the harder classes held me back so I switched majors. I suggest getting the text books, paying attention in classes, and don't skip the studying.
follow your passion! if Marine Science is what sparks your interest and passion, then go for it!
I would say to a marine science student push through the classes that are sometimes not what your are most excited about for your major. For me I had to take marine geology and personally it was not for me. After I got through my hard/boring classes it has been fun, interesting, and rewarding. I mainly want to focus on animals and their environment so a lot of upper level classes have topics that I am interested in.
Do not lose yourself in your work and find time for things you also enjoy. Be prepared to take some difficult classes. In the end, it will be worth all the hardship. The experiences you will have and the friends you will make will last as long as you want them too. Do not stray away from any work or responsibility, however. You might fall behind and it can be difficult to get caught back up. Do your best and fight for success, and it will fight for you.
