What is a human computer interaction major?

Human computer interaction is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on the study of the interaction between people and technology and how that technology impacts society. It combines disciplines within the fields of computing and information science (information systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and design), engineering, and the behavioral sciences (cognitive science, cognitive psychology, sociology, organizational psychology, and social psychology). The program includes instruction in information technology, cognitive and behavioral sciences, and systems design.

How popular is human computer interaction as a major?

Each year, around 500 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 65 students obtain an associate degree in human computer interaction. In 2021, 618 students received a bachelor's degree and 147 students received an associate degree. This is 5% more human computer interaction majors than there were in 2020.
