Advice from graphic design majors
Share your experienceI would tell other Graphic Design students to check their work for proper implementation of the design elements and principles before submission. This seems to be an ongoing task from class to class. I often need to ensure my typeface selection is legible, so not too faint; i.e., although light italics are nice, the elderly or visually impaired may have difficulty reading it. Also, the color has to have good contrast, so canary yellow on titanium white might not be a great idea if it's too small. Balance is important with regards to negative space in proximity between contents in a design. If you want something center aligned, make sure you use the distribute quick action button under the properties panel and not just eyeball a text box. Lastly, allowing a partner to take an additional look at your work might help you step away from it and come back to it with a fresh perspective. Maybe you simply misspelled a word because you forgot to enable dynamic spelling on InDesign. Best wishes!
College art classes are very much a case of: you get out what you put in. If you don’t put a lot of effort into projects or critiques, or don’t communicate with your professors and seek advice to make your work better- you may pass the classes and graduate, but you won’t build your skills enough to be a great designer. A good design student seeks feedback and builds a relationship with their peers and professors. Seeking constructive criticism is a must. You are studying and building your design eye. The more practice, the better you can be. Art is a skill, not just a talent. Learn from those around you, they can teach you new techniques and a new perspective.
to me, i do not see it as a quick cash grab but an actual career as should be seen very professional
To always ask for help when needed and feedback from peers should always be something that you are open to.
continue to carry on that career path although you may face some challenges along the way. You'll find the creativity and gain lots of knowledge that'll carry you far along your graphic design career.
