Gaming and interactive media design students focus on the design, development, and programming of interactive media entertainment, including computer and video games, virtual environments, internet applications, and other interactive media. Course topics include theory of games, turn-based games, real-time games, visual and interactive design, story development, animation, simulation, and programming.

Each year, around 1,400 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 430 students obtain an associate degree in game design and interactive media. In 2021, 1,301 students received a bachelor's degree and 439 students received an associate degree. This is 4% fewer game design and interactive media majors than there were in 2020. Game design and interactive media is a relatively popular major compared to other design majors.
